About

  • English
    • The Archbishop's Palace of Seville, or Palacio Arzobispal de Sevilla, is one of the city's most important buildings, adjoining the cathedral. It has served as the official residence of the Archbishop of Seville since the 16th century. The building seen today is the result of a series of alterations and extensions over the centuries, combining several architectural styles, primarily Baroque. Its main façade, adorned with balconies, columns, and a large sculpted portal, is a remarkable example of 18th-century Andalusian Baroque.

The interior of the palace houses an art collection, including works by great Spanish masters such as Zurbarán and Murillo. Its interior courtyards, monumental staircases, and richly decorated rooms bear witness to the grandeur and power of the Church in Seville over the centuries. The palace, although not always open to the public, is a major historical and artistic monument, reflecting the cultural wealth of the city.
