After wandering through the enchanting streets of Seville, the Seville City Guide realizes that it's from the heights that the city reveals its true magic. Each ascent offers a unique reward: a new perspective on its history, its magnificent monuments, and its vibrant neighborhoods. Let us take you on a journey through our favorite spots, these exceptional viewpoints that allowed us to capture all the splendor of the Andalusian capital.

Seville from the sky: the must-sees

The Giralda, at the pinnacle of history

An undisputed symbol of Seville, the Giralda is the perfect place to begin your exploration of the city's heights. After climbing the ramps, you're rewarded with a 360-degree view of the heart of the city. The panorama encompasses the cathedral's rooftops, the labyrinthine Patio de los Naranjos, and extends to the more distant neighborhoods. It's the most iconic viewpoint, offering a complete view of the historic center and its main monuments.

The Giralda does not have steps, but 35 ramps which were once used by the muezzin and the guards who rode up to the top on horseback. This makes the climb easier and accessible to everyone.

The cathedral rooftops: a view of a masterpiece

For a more intimate and extraordinary experience, a guided tour of the rooftops of Seville Cathedral is a must. This rare perspective allows you to contemplate the building's architecture from the outside, admire the gargoyles up close, and feel the grandeur of the monument from within. You can stroll on the rooftops, observe the details of the buttresses up close, and get a closer look at the Giralda. It's a unique adventure, often more peaceful than climbing the tower, that reveals the cathedral in a new light.

Book your cathedral rooftop tour well in advance! Places are limited for these guided tours, and they fill up very quickly. We especially loved the nighttime tour for a truly memorable experience.

A visit to Seville Cathedral is a must, day or night!

The Torre del Oro and its view of the river and the Triana district

Built on the banks of the river, the Torre del Oro offers a unique view overlooking the Guadalquivir River and the Triana district. From the top of this historic defensive tower, you can admire the comings and goings of boats, the majestic Triana Bridge, and the colorful facades of the neighborhood. It's one of the best places to understand Seville's river-related importance throughout the centuries.

Don't miss the chance to discover the Torre del Oro from an eco-cruise on the Guadalquivir.

Metropol Parasol (Las Setas): the modern contrast

A true architectural masterpiece, Metropol Parasol, affectionately nicknamed "Las Setas" (the mushrooms), is Seville's most modern viewpoint. Day and night, the winding walkway offers a contemporary, aerial perspective of the city. It's the perfect spot to observe the bustle of the Plaza de la Encarnación and the contrast between the historic buildings and this futuristic wooden structure.

For an unforgettable experience, climb to the top just before sunset. The warm colors that bathe Seville from this modern architecture are absolutely magnificent. At night, the monument is illuminated in a variety of colors.

The Schindler Tower: The secret view of the World's Fair

To escape the crowds, the Torre Schindler, a remnant of the 1992 World Expo, is an excellent option. This lesser-known viewpoint offers an unobstructed view of the Cartuja Island park, the river, and the modern bridges spanning the Guadalquivir. It's a peaceful spot and a lovely alternative for those seeking a different and serene perspective of the city.

The tower is one of the few structures from the 1992 World Expo still in use today. Its panoramic glass elevator, the first of its kind in Spain, was a true technological feat at the time and offers a spectacular ascent.

The bridges

Seville's bridges are not just places to cross; they also offer fantastic viewpoints. The Triana Bridge, for example, provides a magnificent view of the river and the neighborhood that bears its name. The Delicias Bridge, further from the center, offers a panoramic view of the port and the surrounding area.

A stroll across the Triana Bridge at sunset is a magical moment. The sky and the river blaze with colors, and you can watch the lights on both banks illuminate.

For breathtaking views in a relaxed atmosphere, Seville's many hotel rooftops are perfect. These rooftop terraces offer spectacular panoramas of the cathedral, the Giralda, or the vibrant neighborhoods, all while enjoying a drink. It's the perfect way to end a day of exploring.

Don't hesitate to go up to the hotel terraces, as most are open to the public even if you are not a guest.
