About

  • English
    • The Cathedral of Our Lady of the See of Seville is one of the most emblematic monuments of Spain and the largest Gothic building in the world.

Built from 1401 on the site of a former great Almohad mosque, it symbolizes the reconquest of the city and houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus. It is famous for its bell tower, the Giralda, which was originally the minaret of the mosque, and was transformed into a Renaissance -style campanile.

This immense building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a mixture of architectural styles, mainly Gothic and Renaissance. Inside, admire its impressive dimensions, works of art by Spanish masters such as Goya and Murillo, a monumental golden altarpiece and the famous Patio de los Naranjos (Courtyard of the Orange Trees), a vestige of its Muslim past.
