Directions Aquarium de Séville - In the maritime footsteps of Magellan

About

  • English
    • The Seville Aquarium is not just a showcase of marine life, it is a living museum dedicated to history. Its route is designed to retrace the epic journey of Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano, who set out from Seville in 1519 to complete the first circumnavigation of the globe.

Through its 35 tanks and more than 7,000 specimens, the aquarium takes the visitor through the ecosystems (Guadalquivir, Atlantic, Amazon, Pacific, Indo-Pacific) encountered by the expedition five centuries ago. Its centerpiece, a nine-meter-deep oceanarium housing bull sharks and sea turtles, symbolizes the immensity and dangers encountered by the navigators.

It is a unique immersion that combines the discovery of biodiversity and a tribute to great maritime explorations.
