The Parque del Alamillo is a large urban park in Seville, often referred to as the city's "green lung". Located to the north of the Isla de la Cartuja, it was created for Expo '92 and inaugurated in 1993, and now covers 120 hectares. It is very popular with Sevillians, especially on weekends, for its leisure, sports and nature activities. It includes playgrounds, lakes, a pier on the Guadalquivir for water sports and urban vegetable gardens.
