Directions Buhaira Garden - Green break in the heart of Nervión

About

  • English
    • Seville's Buhaira Gardens are a place steeped in history. Its name comes from the Arabic al-buhaira, meaning "lagoon," referring to the 43-meter rectangular pool of water. It remains of the original Almohad palace ordered by Caliph Abu Yaqub Yusuf in 1171.

Declared a Historic-Artistic Monument, this complex, located in the Nervión neighborhood, has been restored to present a magnificent Muslim-style garden. It incorporates Islamic landscape elements such as orange trees, ornamental olive trees, and date palms. It also houses the remains of a Muslim necropolis and a historic swimming pool. The site includes a Neo-Mudejar Palace that today serves as a civic center for the neighborhood, hosting cultural events. The gardens, open and free of charge, offer a parenthesis of Andalusian greenery with its essence of lemon trees, fig trees, and acacias.
