María Luisa Park Green oasis in Seville

Maria Luisa Park is the most famous park in Seville and one of the largest in the city. Initially, it was the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo, but they were donated to the city by Maria Luisa. It became a public park in 1914. The park was completely redesigned and expanded between 1912 and 1922 by the French landscaper Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, which greatly influenced the architecture of the place.

The park is a relaxing place for Sevillians and tourists, ideal for a walk or a picnic in the shade. It is known for its many monuments and attractions, especially the magnificent Plaza de España and the Plaza de América, which houses the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs. The park is also full of fountains, such as the Fuente de los Leones, pools and islets where ducks and swans live, as well as monuments dedicated to literary figures such as the Glorieta de Bécquer and that of Cervantes.
