About

    • Seville's Plaza de España is one of the most spectacular squares in Spain and a symbol of the city. Designed by architect Aníbal González, it was built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Its unique architectural style is an impressive blend of Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Mudejar, and Neo-Baroque styles.

Semicircular in shape, the square is bordered by a huge brick and ceramic palace that is reflected in a navigable canal crossed by four bridges representing the ancient kingdoms of Spain. What makes it so famous are the 48 alcoves decorated with painted ceramic tiles, the famous azulejos, each representing a Spanish province. The square is a true hymn to the unity of Spain and has served as a setting for numerous films, including Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
