The Basilica of Our Father Jesus of the Great Power is a modern neo-Baroque sanctuary located in the San Lorenzo district of Seville. It is famous for housing the venerated statue of Christ of the Great Power (Jesús del Gran Poder), a remarkable work by Juan de Mesa dating from 1620. This image, depicting Christ carrying his cross with an expression of profound sadness and weariness, is one of the major figures of Seville's Semana Santa (Holy Week), emerging in procession on Good Friday.
