About

  • English
    • The Church of San Juan de la Palma in Seville is a religious building of great historical and architectural value. Dating from the 14th century, it was built in the Mudejar style, a unique blend of Christian and Islamic architectural elements.

Located in the Macarena neighborhood, the church is the seat of several religious brotherhoods, the best known of which is the Hermandad de la Amargura. It is also linked to the Hermandad de la Virgen de la Cabeza, another venerated brotherhood. Its sober and elegant interior is decorated with altarpieces and sculptures of great artistic value, especially the main altarpiece dedicated to San Juan Bautista. It is particularly famous for its bell tower, its Patio de los Naranjos and for being the starting point of the Holy Week procession.
