About

  • English
    • The Parliament of Andalusia (Parlamento de Andalucía) is a remarkable building located in Seville. It is a historical monument and a seat of power that has survived the centuries and had several uses.

The building was originally the Hospital of the Five Wounds (Hospital de las Cinco Llagas), founded in the 16th century. Its construction, in the Renaissance style, was one of the most important of the time in Europe. It is distinguished by its majestic main courtyard and long ornate corridors. After being a hospital for more than 400 years, it was abandoned in the mid-20th century, and later restored and renovated.

Since 1992, the building has been the seat of the Parliament of Andalusia, the legislative assembly of the autonomous community. This change of function has allowed this architectural heritage to be preserved and made into a symbol of Andalusian autonomy. The building thus combines its historical past with its current political and democratic role.
