Directions Pont de la Barqueta - Gateway to Isla Mágica and La Cartuja

About

  • English
    • The Puente de la Barqueta is an emblematic bridge in Seville, built for the 1992 Universal Exhibition. It is the main access gateway to the Isla de la Cartuja. This work of art, designed by Juan José Arenas and Marcos J. Pantaleón, is a cable-stayed arch bridge that crosses the Guadalquivir basin.

Recognizable by its arched structure and entirely white with red guy wires, it connects the historic center (Macarena and San Lorenzo neighborhoods) to the island that today houses, among other things, the Isla Mágica theme park. Initially pedestrianized, it was later opened to road traffic and is considered one of the symbols of modern Seville.
