Directions Bullring of the Maestranza - At the heart of bullfighting history in Seville

About

  • English
    • The Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Seville is one of the oldest and most emblematic bullrings in Spain. A symbol of bullfighting, it is recognized as one of the high places of bullfighting and one of the most visited monuments in the city.

Its construction, which began in 1761, lasted more than 120 years due to various interruptions. The bullring stands out for its oval shape and its Baroque- style façade, whose ochre and white colors are characteristic. The site also houses a museum that traces the history of bullfighting through a collection of costumes, posters and historical objects. Every year, the Maestranza is the epicenter of the famous Feria de Abril in Seville, one of the most important bullfighting events in the world.
