About

  • English
    • The Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art (CAAC) in Seville is an essential place that combines history and modern creation.

It is housed in the former Monastery of the Carthusian Monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, a magnificent site on the island of La Cartuja, on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. This monastery has a rich history: it was a porcelain factory in the 19th century and is even said to have housed the body of Christopher Columbus before its transfer.

Today, the CAAC serves a dual function:

      • It is a museum of contemporary art, presenting an extensive collection of Andalusian and Spanish art from recent decades.
      • It is a leading temporary exhibition space.

The visit allows you to discover both the historical remains of the monastery (such as the cloisters, chapels and porcelain kiln) and works of modern art.
