About

  • English
    • The Palace of the Countess of Lebrija in Seville is a magnificent historic residence that has been converted into a museum. Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, the palace was acquired and restored in the 1900s by the Countess of Lebrija, a passionate archaeologist who wanted to house her rich collection of antiquities there.

The palace is particularly renowned for its spectacular collection of Roman mosaics from the ruins of Itálica. These mosaics, which cover much of the ground floor, led to the palace being dubbed " the best-paved palace in Europe " by the Marquis of Lozoya. Beyond the mosaics, the palace is a veritable showcase of art, with architecture blending Renaissance, Mudejar, and Gothic styles. It also houses paintings by artists such as Van Dyck and Bruegel the Elder, as well as a vast library.
