About

  • English
    • The Convent of Santa Isabel (Saint Isabel) is a cloister monastery in Seville, founded in 1490 by Doña Isabel de León.

Although established in the late 15th century, the building is most famous for its church, built in an elegant Mannerist style by Alonso de Vandelvira in 1602. The convent houses an exceptional artistic heritage, including several major works of Sevillian Baroque sculpture. Its main altarpiece, designed by Juan de Mesa (one of the masters of religious sculpture), and the impressive Christ of Mercy (also by Juan de Mesa) are among its greatest treasures, despite the losses suffered.
