About

  • English
    • In the heart of Seville's Santa Cruz neighborhood, Casa Fabiola houses the remarkable Mariano Bellver Collection, a treasure trove of Andalusian costumbrista art. This ancient classical-style residence, with its palatial architecture, offers a journey through the city's history in the 19th century, a period when local customs and traditions profoundly inspired the arts.

Thanks to the generous donation of the Sevillian antique dealer Mariano Bellver and his wife, the museum exhibits more than 500 works spread over three floors, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and ceramics. The emphasis is on 19th-century Andalusian authors, with famous names such as Valeriano Domínguez Bécquer and Gonzalo Bilbao, whose canvases capture with narrative quality the essence of Sevillian life at the time. This collection constitutes the largest representation of Seville's costumbrismo and is particularly rich in oil paintings and religious figures, including the Niños Jesús (Baby Jesuses), much loved by Bellver's wife.
