About

  • English
    • The Church of the Convent of San José in Seville is the former temple of the convent of the Discalced Mercedarian Fathers (Mercedarios Descalzos). It immediately stands out for its colorful façade on San José Street, combining ochre and terracotta tones with blue and white azulejo panels, typical of Sevillian architecture.

Built in the 17th century, the church was the heart of a convent, once a major artistic center. Although the convent was deconsecrated in the 19th century, the church retained its liturgical use and still houses important works. It remains today a notable testimony to the art and religious history of the city.
